BlogShares - Fantasy Blog Share Market

An interesting perspective to evaluating blogs - at least in terms of popularity. They use a stock market model where blogs a 'valued' based on the attention they get.

Sifry's Alerts: Technorati Tutorial, Part 1

Tutorial on Technolrati. I couldn't find any FAQs on the technorati.com web site.

XMLDB tool for blogs

A Sleepycat Berkley DB XML - based weblogging (server) tool. This adds to my earlier posting regarding Jon Udell's blog regarding using XPath to query his blog entries. Interesting stuff.

Russell Beatie's got some of his views that are interesting on this topic.

Another RSS tutorial. Link obtained from Rajesh Jain's blog.

Safe Haven ™

A mechanism to block camera fones from activation ? Seems interesting, but these guys don't go into any detail ! BTW, the most interesting note in this page is that Saudi Arabia has banned Camera Phone - understandable (?!?)

But what I found wierd was that China is also considering imposing a ban on these phones. With a quarter of the world's population, now I know why Motorola was late into the Camera Phone market.

Friday - the mobile news aggregator

My first look into mobile aggregators.

The Doc Searls Weblog : Friday, September 45, 2003

More power to the people here !

Location Specific Blogs

Back on the topic of location specific blogs, LondonBloggers.com could be one the closest realizations of information spaces - only if people wrote more about the locations than their own personal blogs.
Now, if London can do it, so would NY.

hiptop Nation

The trend setter in 'Hiptop' blogs. Hiptop is what Danger, the creators of TMobile's Sidekick call their product. And hiptop.comseems to be site TMobile favours.

Guardian Unlimited | Online | Blogs in the frame

Yet anothe rinspiring story on the trends in mobile blogging.

GPS and mobs

GPS enabled blogs seem to be starting off. Don't know how popular they are, but the Tokyo Tidbits site seems to make it pretty interesting.

Shirley's blog posting (the original url in the title of this posting) has some more links. This seems really promising. So far the technology is cool - but commercial impact is what I am looking for.

EU-land seems to support the idea for the tourist industry. See the article in nature.

IrcChannel - Joi Ito Wiki

What the heck is Joi Ito's IRCCHannel ? I need to look into this.

eduBlogging

Maybe I should have looked at this well researched presentation on blogs before I made my presentation. Jenny has more presentations listed on her blog.

Finally I start using an aggregator!

Yes, the reviews for Awasu are correct - it is undoubtably one of the best aggregators around. Not that I have compared too many others, but Awasu is so simple to use, I junked the .NET implementation of Beaver I downloaded earlier. Using the aggregator has helped me clear my confusion regarding syndication via RSS. Its really simple - and yet so powerful !

I have started subscribing to a few channels - primarily News feeds and Tech/Enterpreneurial Blogs. Maybe I'll list them somehow. I guess RadioLand users have these features made so simple to use - a free Blogger.com customer like me doesn't really have that option - nor can I syndicate my blog. Maybe I'll set up a MoveableType blog on a web server some time.

HP CoolTown - Information Spaces et. al.

Somehow the information spaces, HP CoolTown-like ideas seem to make a lot more sense when you put it in the context of moblogging with GPS-enabled devices.

Note: GeoURL would align with the information spaces concept quite a bit.

What are TrackBacks ?

What are TrackBacks ? I noticed this in a few blogs. Seems like a mechanism to remotely link related blogs - using which a person may comment on a blog and have the owner of the orginal blog be notified of the comment. Pretty interesting stuf...

Also see this simpler explanation of TrackBack.

Technorati: Web Services for bloggers.

This site allows you to identify blogs pointing to a given blog.
